Kids

Eye Vision Problems in children….. MUCH more common than you think!

Vision - your child's most precious sense. Yet most people make the mistake of assuming their child has perfect vision, unless they complain of "trouble seeing the board". Children can't tell whether their vision is normal, and just assume they are the same as everyone else. However, many hidden vision problems are common in children and a missed eye vision problem can lead to reduced performance at school and persist later in life.

What ages should I have my child’s eyes checked?

At Harmony Vision Care, our staff are trained to check baby's eyes, even though babies can't read the letter chart! Routine checks are recommended at: 3-6 months old; 3 years old; Prep; Grade 1; Grade 2; Grade 3, and every 2-3 years thereafter, or whenever you suspect any problems.

Vision & Learning

Vision & Learning

A large part of learning is done visually. 80% of information processed in the brain is visual. So this link shouldn't be surprising, but it is easily misunderstood. Reading, spelling, writing and computer require long periods of visual attention on a close page or screen, and many students' visual skills just aren't up to it! Simple hidden vision problems may be confused with dyslexia or ADD/ADHD. Read more about hidden eye vision problems including symptoms, signs & special testing...
