Contact lenses for astigmatism correction, called “toric” lenses have been available for decades. The last decade has seen great advances in contact lens technology that means:
- Vision is more stable in the newer toric designs.
- A broader range of prescriptions can be fitted with toric disposables, increasing convenience.
- There is a broad choice of materials to increase comfort.
This is great news particularly for those under 40, whose focussing flexibility is good, as they can usually read, use computers and other daily activities with a distance only correction. For those entering presbyopia, where near focus becomes difficult, the choice was more limited. However, we are pleased to be able to offer a monthly disposable that now corrects both astigmatism and near vision at the same time. The advantages of these lenses are:

The ability to wear such contact lenses is still based on your individual suitability as judged by your optometrist.
